Red Nose

Red Nose’s purpose is to save the lives of babies and children and support people impacted by the death of a child.

Through our evidence-based Safe Sleeping education program we provide safe sleeping resources, information statements and education packages to new and expectant mothers, health care professionals and carers.

This program has successfully reduced the incidence of SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents in Australia by 80%, saving more than 9,000 little lives.

We also fund research into the possible causes and prevention of infant death, SIDS, and stillbirth.

Our advocacy role includes working with baby and infant product manufacturers and retailers to ensure products are safe and consistent with our safe sleeping messages. We ensure health professionals who care for new and expectant parents and their babies are aware of the national policy and standards in the area of safe sleeping and child safety. We also work with media outlets nationally to ensure content is consistent with our messaging.

Our Red Nose Grief and Loss services provide a range of support options for any person affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a baby or child. These options include counselling, support groups, a 24 hour support line, a dedicated website, and literature.  Health professionals are able to refer an individual or family to us for ongoing support and counselling.
